State Agrees to Refunds
Soon an estimated 56,000 elderly residents will receive nearly every penny owed them by the State of South Carolina, Kenneth A. Harris reported on May 9, 2001 in The State Newspaper.
The State Budget and Control agreed Tuesday to pay up to $7.5 million to settle a lawsuit brought on behalf of the residents 85 and older who did not receive a one-cent sales tax exclusion as provided by law.
