Trial of the Century

In January 2023, Dick Harpootlian delivered the opening remarks in what would become the longest and one of the most highly publicized criminal trials in South Carolina history. For six weeks, Harpootlian and his trial team defended a former South Carolina attorney who had been accused of murdering his wife and son in Colleton County, South Carolina. The trial, which included testimony from more than 75 witnesses and reams of complex forensic evidence on digital and cell phone technology, firearms, and crime scene reconstruction, drew international commentary and attention. The trial culminated in the conviction of the firm’s client on March 2, 2023, and the case is currently on appeal.
