Supreme Court orders Governor to accept $700 million in disputed stimulus money

South Carolina’s Supreme Court unanimously ruled that Governor Mark Sanford must apply for the disputed $700 million in federal stimulus money and took the rare step of issuing a writ of mandamus ordering the governor to apply for the money. Richard “Dick” A. Harpootlian, represented the plaintiff in the case along with A. Camden Lewis and Ariail E. King, both of Lewis, Babcock & Griffin LLP.
